Warped Lirio Rojo 2019 is different compared to the past release. This annual release, that usually drops around the holiday season. Since the first launch, back in 2015, it was always a Corona size, but this year it comes in a Lonsdale size, with a bullet cap finish (it is the same finish as the 109 vitola in Cuba). Packaging (50 count boxes and no bands) and blend are the same as previous years.

The cigars comes in a motleyed Colorado Maduro shaded wrapper, with well visibal veins. Construction is good and the fact that the cigar doesn’t have any band, make it very appealing to the eye.

Lirio Rojo 2019

Warped Lirio Rojo 2019: the cold draw brings notes of natural tobacco and spices to the palate. Once lit, it opens with a mix of spices and vegetal notes.

Lirio Rojo 2019

The first third reveals notes of leather, wood and earth. The smoke itself is creamy, while the burn line is quite wavy, but so far there is no need to touch it up. Strength is medium – light (2/5).

In the second third, the leather note is now supported by wood, coffee and black pepper. There is also a floral note perceptible in the background. The burn line has gotten worse and needs to be touched up a couple of times. Strength increases to a solid medium (3/5).

Getting to the last third, the black pepper has moved to the front, with the leather, coffee and wood have taken a step back. The burn line has luckely not been an issue anymore and the strength increases slightly (3,5/5).

Overall, the Warped Lirio Rojo 2019 is a good cigar, with a balanced profile. There is some evolution present, but the flavor profile lacks a little in complexity. The cigar looses points due to the wavy burn and the couple touch up, throughout the first two thirds.
