The cigar is dressed up in a colorado maduro shade wrapper. The head finish shows the typical pig tail, as it happens in every cigar released under Trinidad. The construction is excellent: the filling is generous and homogeneous.
Trinidad Topes Limited Edition 2016: the cold draw reveals perceivable scents of earth and cocoa. The opening develops hazelnut notes, together with hints walnut.
The first third delivers undergrowth aromas, followed by hazelnut and walnut, the same that are found in the opening. In the aftertaste there are spicy notes of black pepper. The strength is medium plus (3,5/5).
In the second third the walnut aroma becomes the main one, followed by the undergrowth notes. The spices are still present in the aftertaste and the base gets a little bit acidulous. The strength doesn’t change.
In the last sector the walnut aroma gets even more intense. With it, there are earthy notes. The spices are still in the aftertaste, but they are enriched by piquant peaks. The base is still acidulous and the strength picks up, reaching a medium to full level (4/5).
Overall the Trinidad Topes Limited Edition 2016 delivers a good intensity smoke. The evolution is limited but still perceivable. The aromatic palette is build up around nuts, with all the other aromas working around it. The persistence is good, as well as the harmony. A cigar that will improve with time, but that can be enjoyed right now.
