The Trinidad Fundadores is a true masterpiece of Cuban production. Until 1997 it was a cigar produced solely for use by the Cuban government as a diplomatic gift. That cigar was a Laguito No. 1, measuring 38 x 192 (the same as the Cohiba Lancero). However, when it was presented to the world, its ring gauge went from 38 to 40, probably not to become a direct competitor of the Cohiba size.
It is currently sold in semi boite nature boxes of 24 pieces, but in past years it was also distributed in boxes of 12 and 50.
Visually the Fundadores is almost always perfect in construction. The wrappers are always bright, while the colors can vary between Colorado Claro and Colorado, with golden reflections. Rarely (mostly in older specimens), it was not unusual to come across Colorado Maduro wrappers. To the touch, the leaf is smooth with little pronounced veins. The leaf is smooth, but the size can hide gaps or nodes. In general, however, it is almost always flawless.

Trinidad Fundadores: the cold draw reveals a note of ripe fruit, enriched by nuances of earth and noble wood.
Ultimately, we are in the presence of the classic high-end Cuban cigar, to which time can only add finesse and depth. The flavor profile is complex, and also the tactile aspect characterizes the smoke well, thanks to its peculiar creaminess.
However, it should be noted that it is a cigar best smoked after at least two years of rest (the CigarsLover staff recommends 4-5 years). Furthermore, the production of this Trinidad is very limited (frequently out of stock), which is why, when you manage to find them in a tobacconist’s, don’t miss them, provided you are not in a hurry to smoke them.
I was reluctant to try this cigar. Overall Outstanding Sexy Beautiful Cigar. I am enjoying a great cigar. Will I purchase another box, yes most definitely. I am awaiting a box of Cohiba Lanc, so I can compare the two.
