At the PCA trade show 2023, which was held last week, Tatuaje Cigars showcased a couple of new releases, among which was the 20th anniversary of Tatuaje Cigars.
To celebrate their 20th year, they added two new vitolas to their Tatuaje Nicaragua lineup, the 20th Grande Merveille and the 20th Grand Chasseur. Like the two vitolas released in 2013 celebrating their 10th year, Belle Encre and Bon Chasseur, these two new sizes will continue as regular production, further rounding out the Tatuaje Nicaragua offerings.
Grande Merveille measures 46 x 156 mm (6 1/8″), and the Grand Chasseur 54 x 162 mm (6 3/8″). The blend comprises an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and fillers. Both sizes have a closed foot and will be sold in 20-ct boxes with a retail price of $13 for the Grande Merveille and $14 for the Grand Chasseur.
Tatuaje also showcased new sizes for their L’Atelier and Surrogates brands. The L’Atelier Roxy, a Short Robusto measuring 50 x 89 mm (3 1/2″), is a new regular production vitola and is a tribute to KC Johnson’s beloved dog, Roxy. Because she was known to have two very different personalities, they decided to release two versions, the L’Atelier Roxy Natural and L’Atelier Roxy Maduro. Binder and filler tobacco is Nicaraguan for both, but the Natural wears a Sancti Spiritus wrapper, and the Maduro a Connecticut Broadleaf. Each 20-ct box will include ten cigars of each version, and the retail price is set at $8 per cigar.
Lastly, the Surrogates will receive a new size for the Big Ten blend. The Big Ten blend was introduced last year as a limited Britannica size (to celebrate 10 years of Surrogates) and is now being released at its project size of 52 x 133 mm (5 1/4″). Blend-wise, it is made up of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and fillers. Retail price is set at $9.5 per cigar, and they will be packaged in 20-ct boxes.
