Romeo y Julieta Hermosos No. 2 EL 2004: the cold draw reveals light notes of earth and wood. It opens up with a range of flavors, that are easily true to the brand: roasted coffee notes, earth and nuts.
The first third presents a contained intensity, when compared to the first few puffs. Roasted coffee notes and earth are perceptible, accompanied by very suave spiciness, almost imperceptible. Strength is medium (3/5).
The aromatic intensity finally gets a hold of itself in the second third and the flavors are more outlined and can be perceived better. Notes of earth and cococa develops, accompanied by the omnipresent roasted coffee. The spicy notes stay in the background and they are now followed by hints of chili, albeit very mild. Strength increases slightly (3,5/5).
The smoke suffers an involution in the final third and the aromatic palette is reduced to roasted flavors and earth. Strength stays constant until the end (3,5/5).
Overall, the Hermosos No. 2 fully reflects the aromatic palette of the Romeo y Julieta brand. The aromatic intensity increases from the first to the second third, to then going back to being contained in the last part of the smoke, resulting in a not very particularly satisfying finale. Considering the time that these cigars have aged, the expectations weren’t completely met.
