Tierra Volcan is one of the three lines produced by Mombacho Cigars. A company that produces cigars in Nicaragua, in Granada to be precise, at the sumptuous Casa Favilli. It is an historic building designed in the Land of Volcanoes by the Italian architect Mario Favilli. And Italian is also the master blender of the brand, Claudio Sgroi. Tierra Volcan is sold in four sizes.
Aesthetically, the product is dressed in a shiny Colorado shaded wrapper. To the touch, the wrapper is rather smooth with slightly hinted veins. Filling and construction are excellent.

Mombacho Tierra Volcan Grande: rich aromas that recall coffee, spices and peanuts, with the addition of a light note of earth, on the nose.
The opening, despite the size, is delicate. The flavors are played on a balance of sweet and sapid, both very delicate. Well defined flavors of mineral and coffee characters, with a spicy nuances. Strength is medium – light (2/5).
In the second third, the sweet and sapid flavors become more pronounced. Notes of coffee, species, cocoa, with a nuance of peanuts. Strength increases, becoming medium (3/5).
In the last third, the flavors change, with the addition of wood and walnut to the unchanged note of cocoa, and with the appearance of a pronounced earthiness. Strength remains medium (3/5).
Overall, the Mombacho Tierra Volcan Grande has proven to be an excellent product, well balanced, satisfying and refined. Although the size could suggest a strong smoke, instead it turns out to be a rather tame product, but at the same time not lacking in strength. A broad and well-defined flavor profile. Excellent evolution. A perfect Nicaraguan puro.
