Mombacho Cigars S.A. announced the Cosecha 2015, a vintage Nicaraguan puro that will be available at selected Cigar retailers and on www.mombachocigars.com, starting from July 1st.

“True vintage is almost impossible to find in the Cigar industry and we have created a Cigar that showcases the best Nicaraguan tobaccos with Cosecha. Cosecha 2012, Cosecha 2013 and Cosecha 2014 surprised the aficionados” said Claudio Sgroi, President and Master Blender of Mombacho Cigars. “Cosecha is a project that has been in my heart since the day I started working with Mombacho and I am thrilled to share it with all of you now” added Sgroi.

Mombacho_Cosecha_2015The Spanish word “Cosecha” translates to “harvest” in English and is the perfect name to convey the genuine vintage nature of the Cosecha line. The Cosecha 2015 is the fourth release of this limited Cigar line and features Nicaraguan tobaccos harvested in 2015. The Cigars have been in the aging room at Casa Favilli, Mombacho’s iconic production facility in Granada for several years. Sgroi further explains “When accessing the potential for any new Cosecha Vintage, I first determine the conditions, yields, and specific qualities of that year’s Tobacco crop in Nicaragua. In 2015, I discovered an excellent and Cosecha worthy crop, albeit with a stronger tobacco than in recent years, so I identified and worked with these characteristics allowing for the strongest Cosecha Vintage in history. The primary challenge was blending a stronger, yet beautifully balanced Cosecha Cigar. This required an adjustment in Jalapa tobaccos to help smooth and offset the power, yet still providing a very pleasant full-bodied blend without sacrificing the complexity of its flavors. Blending any Mombacho Cigar involves identifying & leveraging the unique characteristics of each crop, then highlighting the soul and profile of each Tobacco in the blend. This makes for an extremely difficult task, but this is the true spirit of a Cosecha Vintage Cigar!”

Cosecha 2015 should be the strongest Cosecha Vintage released by Mombacho. It is a 52 x 152 mm (6″) Toro with a pigtail cap and will be available in 10-count boxes with an MSRP of $29.95 per cigar. A total of 430 boxes (4.300 cigars) were produced.

The Cosecha 2013 scored very high, with 93 points, ending up also in 2018 awards as the third-best cigar made in Nicaragua.
