The band of the Extension de la Racine is very captivating and give the cigar an elegant look. The oily wrapper has a colorado maduro color, smooth to the touch and small veins.
L’Atelier Extension de la Racine ER15: the cold draw reveals earth and spices. The beginning brings aromas of cedar, earth and spices to the palate.
The first third starts out with notes of cedar, earth and red pepper. Continuing, aromas of coffee and dark cocoa are noticeable. The creamy smoke covers the palate like a veil. Citrus notes are perceptible in the retrohale. The strength is medium (3/5).
In the second third the red pepper slides to the background, but stays present. Cedar, earth, coffee and dark cocoa dominate this section, with notes of leather and citrus in certain puffs. All this develops on a very creamy base. The strength stays medium (3/5).
The final third turns slightly sweet and the base is still very creamy. The aromatic palate doesn’t change, with notes of leather and citrus coming and going. The red pepper becomes the main protagonist in the finale. The strength increases, reaching a medium full level (4/5).
Overall, the L’Atelier Extension de la Racine ER15 is a cigar with well intertwined aromas. The smoke is very balanced. The evolution is good, although it is more a play of flavor changes between the major aromas. The after finish is long. Compact ash, right draw and razor sharp burn were all sign of a construction with no flaws.
