Kristoff Nicaragua Toro

Kristoff Nicaragua Toro 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Kristoff Nicaragua Toro is one of three cigars from the homonymous line launched by the Kristoff brand in 2023. It is a cigar that, despite being produced in the Dominican Republic, is made with Nicaraguan tobacco. Condega, Jalapa, and Estelì leaves are used in the filler, a Corojo seed is also grown in the land of volcanoes for the binder, and a Nicaraguan Habano seed is used for the wrapper.

The cigar is dressed in a Colorado Maduro leaf with red highlights. It feels slightly rough to the touch, with somewhat pronounced veining. The filling and construction are good.

Kristoff Nicaragua Toro: in the cold draw, very pronounced hints of earth and wood are perceptible, followed by less intense spicy notes.

Kristoff Nicaragua Toro 3

Once lit, the smoke appears sapid on the palate with sweet nuances. It expresses intense aromas of wood and nuts, among which hazelnut stands out, leaving room for white pepper notes. The strength is medium-full (4/5).

In the central section, the sapidity remains unchanged while the sweetness gives way to a light acidity. The aroma of nuts fades in intensity while mineral and earth notes are inserted—light nuances of coffee and cocoa appear. The strength increases, becoming full (5/5).

In the last third, the acidity gives way to an intense bitter sensation that increases as the end of the smoke approaches—the flavor profile contracts in number, leaving space only for wood and nuts. The strength remains full (5/5).

Overall, the Kristoff Nicaragua Toro offers a complex and rustic smoke. It has a broad flavor profile with a very intense and truly noteworthy central third. The balance, however, could be better. The strength often overwhelms the aromas, and in the last third, a very intense bitter note is added that becomes unmanageable in the end.
