Davidoff Cigars has announced the second Masterpiece Humidor Series II. The humidor is scheduled to ship in November 2020. Designed by the renowned French marquetry artist, Rose Saneuil. Saneuil trained at the famous École Boulle, the French School of Fine Arts and Crafts and Applied Arts. Rose has partnered before with Davidoff in the Masterpiece Humidor „Damajagua“ in 2017, and “Terroirs” in 2019. Both of the 2020 Masterpiece humidor releases are inspired by the notion of time. The humidors inspiration lines up with Davidoff’s “Time Beautifully Filled” slogan.
“Collaborating with artisans and artists mastering unique skills is not only a cornerstone in our innovation strategy but always a possibility for us at Davidoff to learn, get inspired, and expand our creative horizons,” says Edward Simon, Chief Marketing Officer of Oettinger Davidoff AG. “Working with Rose, observing her creative approach and ability to translate into materials and techniques with a level of detail and dedication second to none, was a true privilege. These two Masterpiece Humidors along the exclusive cigars surely are valuable collectors’ items,” Edward Simon continues.
The Masterpiece Humidor Series II is designed with a contrasting combination of darker and lighter tobacco colors, with golden hues. The materials chosen by Rose Saneuil incorporate gold leaves, tobacco leaves, mother-of-pearl, parchment, and woods from Vavona burl and sycamore trees. The body of the Masterpiece Humidor is made from Macassar woods. The interior is made of Gabon Wood (Okoumé), not the traditional kiln-dried Spanish cedar. The Gabon Wood is odorless, which will prevent and transfer of any taste into the cigars. Extra steps of varnishing the interior wood are done to help better stabilize the woods humidity fluctuations. New designs in humidors are what Davidoff has been doing since Zino Davidoff produced the first personal humidor in 1930.
Each humidor is filled with 50 Davidoff Masterpiece Series II Toro cigars. The Limited Edition cigar has a traditional Davidoff band, accompanied by a Masterpiece design secondary band. Blended by Davidoff‘s Master Blenders exclusively for this Masterpiece release. This very limited cigar is handcrafted in a 6 x 52 Toro format. “Providing a creamy, nutty and fruity aroma at the start, building to sweet notes of caramel, corn and hazelnut, with hints of citrus flavors in the second third. The Ecuador wrapper and the hybrid 238 Ecuadorian binder contribute both to the smooth and aromatic retro-hale, creating a cigar with an exceptionally clean finish and palate-pleasing stimulations of sweetness and spiciness. The final third is building on the creaminess with additional sweet notes of chocolate” says Davidoff.
Cigars can only be obtained with the purchase of one of the twelve humidors. Pricing per humidor will be $15,000. Humidors will be sold at Davidoff flagship stores in select markets, and other selected merchants.
