Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 line up

Tatuaje Cigars is now shipping the new cigars presented at this year’s PCA, such as the Cojonu 2012 Tuxtla and Corojo, “The Cojonu Two 12’s” Second Edition Book, and the Surrogates Closing Time.

The Cojonu 2012 was released in 2012 with a Habano wrapper (golden second band), Broadleaf (black second band), and Sumatra (white second band).

New for 2024 are two more versions, one with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper (Tuxtla — green second band) and one with a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper (dark red second band) grown by the Garcia’s. The binder and filler are all Nicaraguan tobacco for both. Like the other sizes, they both measure 52 x 165 mm (6 1/2”) and are box-pressed.

All five versions of Cojonu 2012 will now come in 21-count boxes (3 rows of 7). They are part of the regular production lineup and are being produced at the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. The suggested retail price for both is $13 per cigar. (Note that previously, the original three versions came in cabinet boxes of 25)

Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 Book

In 2012, the Broadleaf and Sumatra wrapper versions first appeared in a Limited Edition “Book” Box of 24, which contained 12 of each.

To commemorate the two new wrappers for 2024, a limited run of 1,000 “2nd Edition” Book style boxes, just like the original, were created, this time with 12 Corojo cigars and 12 Tuxtla cigars for a total of 24 cigars in the book.

Only 1,000 books were produced, and they were allocated to retailers at the PCA trade show this year, along with the first shipments of the new 21-count format boxes of all five versions of the Cojonu 2012.

Surrogates Closing Time

The Surrogates Closing Time is the 11th vitola in the Surrogates line, each being their own project-based size and blend. This is a complex blend of 6 different varietals that is medium strength. Closing Time is an homage to Dan’s last cigar of the evening. Known for smoking in reverse all day by starting with the strongest cigar he can find, a more contemplative mood sets in later in the evening and deserves a complex yet more moderate blend.

The cigar measures 50 x 152 mm (6”) and comprises a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper over Nicaraguan and American binders and fillers from Mexico and Nicaragua. Closing Time is a regular production size sold in 20-ct boxes at a suggested retail price of $10 per cigar.
