Romeo y Julieta Club Kings 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Romeo y Julieta Club Kings is a cigar released in early 2020, albeit presented by Habanos SA in 2015. This, along with the Partagas Capitols (which is hitting world markets in the recent weeks) are part of the Retro Line. Both cigars share the same format (mareva) and the five-piece metal tin packaging.

Once the package is opened, the 5 cigars inside of it are fairly uniform in terms of color, dressed up in a colorado wrapper with brown reflections. However, in other tins, we spotted some colorado claro wrappers with yellow reflections as-well. The overall construction are more than good.

Romeo y Julieta Club Kings

Romeo y Julieta Club Kings: the col draw reveals aromas of wood, followed by evanescent hints of earth and spices, together with a slight ammonia note. The opening is characterized by delicate savory and bitter flavors, in perfect balance with each other.

In the first third, the cigar delivers notes of earth and spices, together with a hint of pink pepper. Strength is on the contained side (1/5).

The flavor profile does not change in the central section. Evolution, on the other hand, offers aromas of pink pepper (increased compared to the first third), spices, and wood, all of equal intensity. There is also a note of ammonia, a clear symptom of the cigar youth. Strength increases slightly, becoming medium-light (2/5).

In the last third the bitterness increases which, while not becoming excessive, slightly outclasses the flavor. The aromatic bouquet remains firm on the notes of spices and wood, while a slight balsamic nuance appears. The ammonia presence remains unchanged. Strength doesn’t change (2/5).

Summing up and trying to go beyond the ammonia component, this Club Kings is a cigar that convinces in its simplicity. Aromas are few in number, but well defined. It is probably a cigar to which time will made improvements, without however raising it to the Olympus of Cuban production.
