El Güegüense is a transcendent satirical drama that embodies several facets of the Nicaraguan experience. Nicholas Melillo, the owner of Foundation Cigars, wanted to pay tribute to the country through this cigar’s name and blend. The brand’s legacy continues with Macho Raton for El Güegüense Corojo The Wise Man Maduro.
There are many characters within this fabled story, none more important than its main character, El Güegüense, also known as Macho Raton. At the story’s core lies a tale of ingenuity and challenging authority. Similarly, Foundation is creating another iteration of its flagship brand.
Macho Raton is a Perfecto size that measures 60 x 120mm (4 3/4″) and comes in two different wrappers. The Corojo wrapper in El Güegüense Macho Raton and The Macho Raton for The Wise Man Maduro shines with a rich Mexican San Andres wrapper. “Our 5yr anniversary cigar was such a hit that I had to release line extensions in this beautiful Perfecto. 12ct boxes make these an easy buy,” says Nicholas Melillo, owner of Foundation Cigars.
Macho Raton will be produced in limited quarterly quantities and distributed to Foundation customers carrying El Güegüense and The Wise Man Maduro. These new sizes will be debuted at the PCA tradeshow in Las Vegas and will begin shipping to retailers throughout the country come late summer 2022. Both versions have an MSRP of $14.00 per cigar.
