Cohiba Ambar

Cohiba Ambar

Cohiba Ambar 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Cohiba Ambar is the latest addition to the regular Cohiba range, announced at the inaugural Habanos World Days event in 2021. It belongs to the Linea Clasica family and is manufactured at the renowned El Laguito factory in Havana.

The Ambar is a factory name is called Placeres and the cigar is finished in  a pigtail. The Cohiba Ambar is available in boxes of ten cigars.

Cohiba Ambar

Cohiba Ambar: the cold draw reveals aromas of honey and hay. Once lit, a mix of hay and nuts reaches the palate.

Cohiba Ambar

Further into the first third, the core flavors of hay and nuts are flanked by honey and wood. The strength is a solid medium body (3/5).

The second half has a light cream flavor coming through, and the strength remains unchanged. The intensity drops in this third, and the cigar has a tunnel burn in this third.

In the last third, the honey and cream disappear. The core of woods and nuts is joined by hints of white pepper and herbs. The strength increases and becomes medium-full (4/5).

Overall, the Cohiba Ambar is a rather underwhelming smoke. The profile reveals hints reminiscent of a classic Cohiba, but the flavor intensity and complexity the brand is known for are nowhere to be found, and the unbalanced last third and burn issues do not help. While the price does not affect the final rating, it is bothersome that for how much the cigar costs, it has a) green spots on the wrapper and b) does not burn correctly. For everything over $20, or €20, you should expect an immaculate product, at least as far as appearance and construction are concerned.
