Kaizad Hansotia, chairman and owner of Gurkha Cigars, has stepped down. The reason behind his resignation is due to some statements that appeared on his social media accounts. Said statements mocked the Black Lives Matter movement and the recent uproars that have taken place in the USA.
Hansotia put out a statement, that says that his account was hacked, but apologized for the comments made on his social media.
Jim Colucci, currently coo and president of Gurkha Cigars, will take over the role of CEO. It is not clear if they will be appointing a new chairman.
Additionally, the company is removing the K. Hansotia branding from all its products once the existing supplies are finished.
