Crowned Heads released for the first time (in November 2012) what would become the first of a long series of limited editions: Four Kicks Mule Kick. The cigar was made with an Ecudor Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The blend was slightly different from the original Four Kicks release, a regular production line. Only 5,000 cigars were produced, but Mule Kick quickly gained attention in the premium cigars universe. The original 2012 blend was reused for the limited edition of 2017, the quantity of which was limited to 20,000 cigars. 2018 saw the third return of the Four Kicks Mule Kick. For the occasion the same filler and binder of the regular line was used, but wrapped in Connecticut Habano Maduro leaf.
On February 14th, Crowned Heads announced the launch of Mule Kick LE 2019. It will present the same combination in terms of filler and binder of previous versions. For the wrapper leaf the choice fell on Ecuadorian Sumatra tobacco. Jon A. Huber, co-founder of the brand, using a metaphor said: “Mule Kick is a LE that holds a special place in all our hearts. We’re always looking towards not necessarily re-inventing the wheel, but how can we innovate and improve upon existing ideas. I’ve always maintained that Ernesto Perez-Carrillo is the master of Sumatra wrapper and once we smoked the samples, we immediately knew that the Sumatra wrapper added another dimension of flavor and layer of complexity to the Mule Kick blend“.
Total production will be limited to 2,500 10 count boxes and will have a MSRP of 10.95 USD per cigar. The production has been entrusted to the Tabacalera La Alianza, S.A. (Dominican Republic) under the supervision of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. Shipments will start next month.
