CLE Signature THT-EKE 03/17 54×6 1600 900 Michel Arlia

When the CLE Signature THT-EKE 03/17 was announced in early 2021, it was planned for CLE’s annual release exclusive to members of the TAA (Tobacconists’ Association of America). Once the cigar shipped in August, three more sizes were added: a 50×5, 54×6, and a 60×6.

Except for the wrapper, a Honduran Cameroon grown by the Eiroa family, nothing else hasn’t been disclosed, not even what the THT-EKE 03/17 means.

Once the tissue paper covering almost half of the cigar is removed, a pale Colorado-colored wrapper is revealed. It is smooth to the touch, with only a few small veins present, and filling is generous and uniform.

CLE Signature THT-EKE 03/17 54×6: the cold draw reveals aromas of spice and vegetal notes. Once lit, the cigar opens with ample notes of nuts, wood, and spices.

The nut flavor, mainly walnut, and wood, are at the core of the profile, followed by white pepper and herbal notes. Strength is medium-light (2/5).

The flavors become fuller in the second third. The herbs turn into balsamic notes, and the white pepper morphs into black pepper. Strength becomes medium (3/5).

In the last third, the balsamic herbs take over the primary spot, supported by walnut wood and black pepper, which become spicier towards the end. The strength remains unchanged.

Overall, the CLE Signature THT-EKE 03/17 54×6 is a balanced and flavorful smoke. While the evolution is there, it is not the most pronounced, but the complexity and depth of the flavors make up for that.
