The Casa Turrent 1880 line was first introduced in 2017 and celebrated the actual year when the Turrent family began growing tobacco. In 2020, the line was expanded by four different blends called Claro, Colorado (coming in second place in our 2020 Awards), Maduro, and Oscuro. Each blend came in one single Double Robusto size. New sizes were announced at this year’s PCA trade show.
The Oscuro is a Mexican Puro entirely made out of Habano Criollo tobacco cultivated by the Turrent family in the San Andres Valley.
Surprisingly enough, the wrapper is not as dark as the name would suggest. It is more a Colorado Maduro color than an Oscuro. It is smooth to the touch, and the filling is uniform.

Casa Turrent 1880 Oscuro Double Robusto: the cold draw brings notes of wood, cocoa, and spices to the palate. Once lit, it opens with notes of wood and ripe fruits.
Overall, the Casa Turrent 1880 Oscuro Double Robusto profile is quite interesting, with a mix of flavors that complement each other well. The only drawbacks of this being a great cigar are the strength, which sometimes overpowers the flavor profile, and the dryness of the smoke, making it unbalanced in some parts.
