Punch Triunfos 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Punch Triunfos is the latest addition to Habanos SA’s Línea Retro. Like its predecessors the Romeo y Julieta Club KingsPartagás CapitolsH. Upmann Regalias, and Hoyo de Monterrey Souvenir de Luxe, it comes in a color-coordinated aluminum tin in a retro design containing five cigars.

The cigars are rolled in motley Colorado wrappers. They appear pretty oily and have only a couple of minor veins present.

Punch Triunfos: the cold draw is a bit muted, and only light vegetal aromas come through. Once lit, it opens with nuts, sour cream, and light spices.

The first third continues with nuts and white pepper. There is also a light bitterness creeping up from the back. Strength is at a medium-light level (2/5).

A woody aroma is added in the second third, while the other aromas move to the background. The strength increases to a solid medium (3/5).

In the last third, black pepper dominates the profile alongside an increasing bitterness. The strength remains unchanged.

Overall, the Punch Triunfos is all over the place. While it is somewhat flavorful and shows what it could be in the second third, the bitterness in the first and last third makes for a harsh and unbalanced smoke.
