Due to ongoing safety concerns, the Procigar Festival for 2021 has been officially canceled. Hendrik Kelner, President of Procigar, said in the official press release: “We have made the difficult decision to cancel our Procigar Festival 2021, we know that this decision is disappointing, but we hope that everyone can understand that right now our priority is to keep the collaborators and participants of the event safe.” Procigar was formed back in 1992 by some of the Dominican Republic’s most storied cigar makers. The concept of Procigar was formed to protect the reputation and future of the Dominican Republic’s beloved cigar industry. To accomplish this, Procigar was setting, and also maintaining, the highest standards of quality for their premium cigar industry.

The happy ending to this sad cancellation news is that Procigar has announced that the 2022 festival is scheduled. The festival is on the books for February 20th-25th, 2022. This date will be a go if everything continues in a positive direction with the ending of the global Pandemic.
