The Festival del Habano is in full swing in Havana, Cuba and as usual, Habanos S.A. has announced a miriad of new releases planned for 2020.
This year, a bunch of different brands celebrate their anniversaries and are commemorated with special releases for the occasion. First up is the Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro that honors the 135th anniversary. The line consists of three sizes:
- Diana – 52 x 144mm (5 11/16″)
- Hidalgos – 57 x 125mm (4 15/16″)
- Nobles – 56 x 135mm (5 5/16″)
Next up is the Montecristo Herederos, that celebrates the brand’s 85th anniversary. The Herederos, which measures 47 x 162mm (6 3/8″), comes in varnished 20 count boxes, that will exclusively be sold at La Casa del Habano and Habanos specialists stores.
Speaking of the La Casa del Habano, 2020 marks the 30th birthday of the franchise and is celebrated with the Juan Lopez Seleccion Especial (52 x 170mm – 6 11/16″). The Juan Lopez brand also happens to turn 150.
The last anniversary to be celebrated is Partagas turning 175 this year and the storied brand will be honored twice. One of the two releases comes in a commemorative humidor, that holds 50 (54 x 175 mm – 6 7/8″). The other release is the Partagas Legado (48 x 157mm – 6 3/16″) and comes in form of the Edicion Limitada programm. Compared to past years, where the Edicion Limitadas were usually three, the Partagas Legado seems to be the only Edicion Limitada planned for 2020.
Habanos also announced other releases for this year, such as the Hoyo de Monterrey Primaveras (48 x 167mm – 6 9/16″), which was selected as the 2021 release for the Chinese new year, and the Bolivar Belicosos Finos Reserva Cosecha 2016. This also marks the first time, since the Gran Reserva or Reserva program was introduced, that the chosen brand does not belong to one of the six global brands.
