H. Upmann Connossieur B 1600 900 Luca Cominelli

The H. Upmann Connossieur B is a production from Habanos for the La Casa del Habano and Habanos Specialist stores. It was announced in 2017, but only in late 2018 it started to be distributed in small batches. It features two bands: as usual for these releases, in addition to the H. Upmann band, there is also the one of the LCDH and HS productions.

The cigar is dressed up in a Colorado shaded wrapper, silky to the touch. The filling is generous.

H. Upmann Connossieur B: the cold draw reveals hints of wood and peppery nuances. The opening brings wooden notes to the palate.

It continues with woody notes, that are now joined by some roasted hints. Strength is medium (3/5). The flavor profile, in this third, is quite contained in terms of number of flavors.

It takes until the second third for the flavor profile to become wider. Notes of hazelnut are now delivered, following the omnipresent note of wood. The classic vegetal aroma that distinguishes the H. Upmann brand is also perceptible, while in some puffs there are also spicy hints in the retro-hale. Strength remains medium (3/5).

The piquant spices get now more pronounced. There is also a mix of toasted and smoky notes. In the finish, balsamic nuances appear. Strength increases, reaching a medium-full level (4/5).

Overall, the first third of H. Upmann Connossieur B is the least performing, with a rather limited flavor profile. However, the smoke changes in rhythm from the second third on, where the profile becomes more structured. In general, the flavor intensity is good and the balance is pronounced. The evolution is discreet and some puffs in the final third are a little harsh, due to the young age of the cigar, but nothing that disturbs too much the smoke. It lacks in complexity, that is particularly limited.
